This post was written in partnership with Capital One, but all opinions are mine.
It goes without saying that the last year has been an absolute rollercoaster thanks to a certain global pandemic that I shall not name. Besides the obvious health and safety concerns that arose as a result of coronavirus, as someone who loves to travel and explore new destinations, I experienced a massive identity shift as I spent most of 2020 at home.
Despite this, I turned lemons into lemonade, and used this time to *truly* get to know New York City, the place I’ve called home for the past five years. As soon as it was safe to do so, I was out and about: traversing different boroughs and new neighborhoods, spending loads of time outside, and coordinating socially-distanced meetups with friends. Thankfully, this ensured there were fun moments in what was a very challenging year.
With that said, there’s nobody more excited than me right now– not only is summer just around the corner, New York City is set to fully reopen in the coming weeks and months! I thus can’t wait to do ALL OF THE THINGS that I used to enjoy in what I have dubbed the “Before Times”: going to a Broadway show, taking in a basketball game at a stadium, and eating indoors at my favorite restaurants are at the top of my list. Something that I’m equally as excited about? Getting to use my new Capital One SavorOne card to get rewards on all these dining and entertainment purchases!
The new SavorOne Card: What you should know
If you’re wondering what the SavorOne Card is, its rewards program, and how you can get your hands on one, allow me to explain. SavorOne is a no-annual-fee credit card from Capital One that gives you cash back on dining, entertainment, popular streaming services and at grocery stores– essentially rewarding you for food and fun, and on many of the purchases you make every day!
While SavorOne has always been a great card to have, Capital One recently made a few tweaks to make it even better. For example, not only will SavorOne cardholders continue to earn 3% cash back on dining and entertainment, they’ll now also get 3% cash back at grocery stores, which makes SO much sense given that the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have inspired people to get creative in the kitchen and make memories at home.
Another great feature of the new SavorOne card is that cardholders will now also receive 3% cash back on popular streaming services like Hulu, Disney+, and Netflix. Again, this is SO smart given our current reality, for the closure of theatre venues has caused us to spend way more time binging our favorite movies and television series from the comfort of our homes.
But wait, that’s not all. Not only will SavorOne cardholders continue to earn 1% cash back on all other purchases, they also have the option to redeem their rewards at many places that they shop! Capital One offers a number of flexible redemption options like Amazon Shop with Points, PayPal Pay with Rewards, and gift card redemptions.
Why SavorOne is the perfect card for me (and you)
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you’ll know that not only am I extremely conscientious when it comes to my finances, I always love a good deal. After all, devising (and sticking to a budget) when it comes to my everyday spending, as well as scoping out deals on flights and accommodation, have allowed me to fulfil my dream of extensive world travel (I’ve been to 118 countries so far)!
However, saving and budgeting are only two pieces of the puzzle. The rewards I get from Capital One’s SavorOne card allow me to not only increase my savings, but to do so with little to no effort since I’m getting cash back on purchases I would have made regardless!
I also love the idea of being able to put these rewards towards the activities I enjoy most: travel and food. As an eternal explorer who’s also an undercover foodie, it’s a pretty big deal that I get cash back every single time I use my card whether it’s to book flights or try out a new restaurant… and that I can, in turn, use these rewards to, well, book even more flights and try out even more restaurants! It’s kind of like the “Circle of (Travel) Life”, and I’m here for it!
The new SavorOne Card: get rewarded for living your best life!
With many cities on the verge of reopening this summer, I personally feel that the refreshed features of Capital One’s SavorOne card couldn’t have come at a better time. SavorOne has got you covered whether you prefer to go out or stay in, allowing you to make new memories with friends and family all while getting rewarded for it.
With that said, given the choice, I’ll definitely be going out and painting the town red, thank you very much! There are so many things to do, see, and eat in The Big Apple, so you’ll absolutely find me roaming its streets ALL summer!
